Ron Bolt, in his current exhibition at Albemarle Gallery, London, continues his exploration of the coastal and river waterways that fascinate him, a wilderness that he describes as “sacred”. Continuing in the tradition of landscape painting in Canada although with a focus of where land, water & light meet.

In 1971 I purchased one of my first art books, entitled High Realism in Canada. I was fascinated by the fact that some of those artists were using egg tempera, and some of their pieces were large, especially for the medium involved. Most striking of those that stood out at least to me, were Ken Danby, Ernest Lindner and Alex Colville.
It must be something in the air.
